San Yao had a secret talent: he could paint pictures that came to life when completed. To keep this secret, he left the eyes off his dragon paintings. The king requested San Yao to paint dragons on a wall, and he complied, leaving out the eyes. When questioned, he explained that adding eyes would make the dragons fly away. To everyone's disbelief, he finally painted the eyes on two dragons, and they came to life, breaking through the wall. San Yao became famous for his secret, and the phrase 'draw dragon dot eyes' became synonymous with adding a finishing touch.
