Why is Mar's covered with rusty soil?

• The heavy iron concentrations in the soil react with the trace oxygen in the atmosphere, forming rust.

• It is not. It's soil is exactly like Earth's soil, except that it is red.

• We don't know, we have never explored Mars with a rover or satellite.
