Jemison graduated high school at 16, studied at Stanford, and attended Cornell Medical School. She served in the Peace Corps before joining NASA in 1987, becoming the first African-American female astronaut. In 1992, she flew on the space shuttle Endeavor. After leaving NASA, she founded the Jemison Group and received numerous accolades, including induction into several halls of fame.
