The James Webb Telescope's primary mirror is made of lightweight beryllium and coated with gold to enhance infrared reflectivity. Unlike Hubble, which orbits Earth, Webb will be positioned at the Earth-sun second Lagrange point, 1.5 million kilometers away, following Earth's orbit around the sun.
