Vainamoinen, a sage, arrives in Pocula and is healed by the witch Lohit, who demands the creation of the Sampo, a powerful artifact. Vainamoinen enlists Ilmarinen, a master smith, to forge it. Despite challenges, Ilmarinen succeeds, but Lohit refuses to honor her promise of marriage. Years later, Vainamoinen and Ilmarinen, still without wealth, attempt to reclaim the Sampo. They succeed initially, but due to a mishap, the Sampo is lost to the sea, where it remains to this day.
