Earth's atmosphere is thin compared to the planet's size. The troposphere, the lowest layer, is where weather occurs and is vital for life. It contains nitrogen, oxygen, and water vapor. Temperature and air pressure decrease with altitude, while wind increases. The stratosphere, above the troposphere, contains ozone that absorbs UV radiation. Beyond it are the mesosphere and thermosphere, which protect from solar radiation. The thermosphere is where the Aurora occurs, influenced by solar wind and Earth's magnetic field.
