Dozens of dinosaur tracks unearthed on Scottish coast

New dinosaur tracks were discovered in a tidal area on Scotland's Isle of Skye. These tracks were made by two-legged carnivorous theropods, primitive relatives of the T Rex, measuring 5 to 6 meters long and weighing about a ton. Earlier tracks found in 2015 belonged to sauropods, long-necked plant-eating dinosaurs related to the Brontosaurus. Both sets of footprints date back 170 million years to the Middle Jurassic period. They were likely made in muddy shallow waters and preserved by sediments that solidified over time.
