Eliza Hamilton, born in 1757 to a wealthy Dutch family, married Alexander Hamilton during the American Revolution. She supported him in his political endeavors, including The Federalist Papers and the Bank of the United States. Despite personal tragedies, including her husband's infidelity and the deaths of her son and husband in duels, Eliza founded the Orphan Asylum Society, New York City's first private orphanage. She dedicated 42 years to this organization, which continues to serve children and families today. Eliza passed away in 1854 at the age of 97.
