Jellyfish Lake is home to nearly 20 million golden jellyfish, a unique subspecies. These jellyfish have a symbiotic relationship with zooxanthellae, which live in their tissues and provide food through photosynthesis. In return, the jellyfish expose the algae to sunlight. Despite lacking brains, jellyfish use a primitive nervous system to sense their environment and follow the sun across the lake using light sensors.
