OSIRIS-REx Heads Home with Sample of Asteroid Bennu

Rex, a spacecraft, was serviced and began its two-year mission to deliver asteroid samples to Earth. After a successful EDM burn, it departed from the asteroid at 600 mph. Rex will orbit the sun twice before returning to Earth on September 24th, 2023. The capsule containing asteroid samples will be sent through Earth's atmosphere to the Utah test and training range, retrieved, and taken to NASA's Johnson Space Center for analysis. These samples will be distributed to labs worldwide for future research.
