Evelyn Bastos, a 20-year-old samba dancer, has been chosen as the queen of the Mangeira samba school. Unlike previous years where famous actresses or models were selected, this year the school returned to its roots by choosing someone from the local community. Evelyn will lead her school in the Sambódromo parade, where she is expected to receive much applause despite not being a celebrity.
