Despite efforts to control it, a fire is spreading in southeast Australia, particularly near Leedcove, close to Sydney. The region of New South Wales has declared a state of emergency due to drought and high temperatures. While many fires have been extinguished, 58 remain active, with over 10 out of control. Rising temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday could exacerbate the situation, potentially merging fires into a mega fire threatening inhabited areas. Over 200 homes have been destroyed, with 120 more damaged.
