VOICED : Colombia: Corte debate reclamo de tesoro precolombino a Espana

The Constitutional Court of Colombia is to decide if the government should request the return of the Kim Bahia treasure from Spain. The treasure, given in the 19th century by a Colombian leader to a Spanish queen, is now in a Madrid museum. A public hearing was held to discuss the return of 122 pre-Columbian pieces. Felipe Rincón, the claimant, argues for the return, supported by indigenous leaders. The government, however, states that no legal mechanism exists to compel Spain to return the items. The pieces are part of a larger collection in the Museum of America in Madrid.
