Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh protested to demand their return to Myanmar, from where they fled due to military oppression. Over a thousand Rohingyas protested in each of the 29 overcrowded camps. In 2017, around 750,000 Rohingyas fled Myanmar to Bangladesh, joining over 100,000 existing refugees. They demand citizenship rights before returning. The US recognized the Rohingya genocide by the Myanmar army. Recently, Bangladesh and Myanmar held talks on refugee repatriation for the first time in nearly three years.
