Rosa Parks, born in 1913, faced segregation from a young age. She joined the NAACP and became a key figure in the civil rights movement. Her refusal to give up her bus seat in 1955 led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott, a pivotal event in the fight against racial segregation. The boycott lasted 381 days and resulted in a Supreme Court ruling that ended segregation on public buses. Parks continued her activism throughout her life, co-founding the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self-Development and receiving numerous awards. She passed away in 2005, leaving a lasting legacy in the fight for equality.
