The video explains Rutherford's model of the atom, based on his alpha scattering experiment. Rutherford observed that most alpha particles passed through a gold foil, some were deflected, and a few rebounded. This led to the conclusion that atoms have a small, dense, positively charged nucleus, with electrons orbiting around it. The experiment contradicted Thomson's model and introduced the nuclear model of the atom.
