The Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has a rich history, transitioning from a Visigothic Basilica to a mosque under the Moors, and later to a cathedral after the Reconquista. Located in Andalucía, Spain, it is a significant monument in Islamic architecture, influencing Moorish architecture in the Western Mediterranean. The site underwent several expansions under Muslim rule, becoming the largest mosque outside Abbasid Iraq. Converted into a cathedral in 1236, it features Gothic and Renaissance elements. Despite King Charles V's criticism, its conversion saved it from destruction during the Spanish Civil War. Declared a World Heritage site in 1984, it remains a symbol of cultural and architectural fusion.
