Caribou, also known as reindeer in some regions, are mammals native to northern Canada. They are warm-blooded, covered in fur, and feed their young with milk. Caribou are unique among deer as both males and females grow antlers. They are known for their epic migrations, traveling over 600 miles to reach summer habitats. Caribou face threats from predators and climate change, leading to a vulnerable conservation status. Their diet mainly consists of lichen, which they dig up from under the snow. Caribou are adapted to harsh Arctic conditions but are susceptible to diseases as the climate warms.
