The Ganga-Brahmaputra Basin, located in the subtropical region of the Indian subcontinent, is formed by the tributaries of the Ganga and Brahmaputra rivers. The Ganga originates from the Gangotri Glacier in the Himalayas and flows into the Bay of Bengal, making it the longest river in India. Its tributaries include the Yamuna, Gagara, and Gomati from the north, and the Chambal and Betwa from the south. The basin is home to diverse flora, including tropical deciduous trees and mangrove forests, and fauna such as elephants, tigers, and the one-horned rhinoceros.
