Evelyn Flores, born in Chile and adopted by Chileans, waited 17 years to gain nationality. Many children of irregular immigrants in Chile face statelessness, lacking rights despite being born and raised there. The Chilean government launched the Chile Reconoce program to address this, recognizing the right to nationality for those born in the country. Globally, around 10 million people are stateless, with limited access to legal protection and basic rights.
