Virus

Viruses are entities that exist inside other cells and have a simple structure consisting of nucleic acid encased in a protein coat, sometimes with an outer membrane. There is debate over whether they are living organisms, as they have genes and evolve but cannot live independently outside living cells. They lack their own cellular structure and metabolism.
