NYC Municipal Workers Face Friday Evening Deadline To Get Vaccinated

City workers, including police officers, firefighters, and sanitation workers, must show proof of at least one vaccine dose by 5:00 PM today or face unpaid leave starting Monday. Many workers protested outside Mayor Bill de Blasio's home, arguing that the nine-day notice was insufficient for making such a significant decision. Currently, 26% of police, 29% of firefighters and EMS workers, and 33% of sanitation workers remain unvaccinated. Those who get vaccinated at a city-run site by today will receive a $500 bonus.
