José Salvador Alvarenga, a Salvadoran castaway, is eagerly awaited at the airport in El Salvador after surviving 13 months adrift in the Pacific Ocean. He was rescued in the Marshall Islands and is now on his way home, with a stop in Los Angeles for a medical check. His family and village are preparing to welcome him back.
