Yohachi Nakajima was a child when Japan surrendered in WWII, leaving many Japanese stranded in Manchukuo, China. His mother, unable to care for him, entrusted him to a Chinese woman. At 16, Yohachi returned to Japan, reuniting with his biological mother. He reflects on the kindness of those who cared for him and questions if Japan would have acted similarly.
