Gianni Infantino, FIFA's president, praised the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for reducing major errors during the Confederations Cup. He expressed a desire for more tournaments with similar success. VAR led to six decision changes, enhancing fairness on the field. Pierluigi Collina, head of FIFA's Referees Committee, noted that VAR won't fix everything as it doesn't replace interpretation. The International Board will review the technology's trial in 2018. Currently, VAR is used in four scenarios: after a goal, during penalty situations, for direct red cards, and to correct player identity errors.
