Dodo

The dodo bird, native to Mauritius, is a well-known example of human-induced extinction. It was a large, flightless bird with no natural predators, making it vulnerable to human activities. Discovered in 1507, the dodo population was quickly decimated by sailors for food. Habitat loss and competition from introduced species like pigs and monkeys further threatened the dodos. The last dodo was killed in 1681, marking the species' extinction.
