Judge Orders Trump Administration To Reopen Applications For DACA

A US District Judge has ordered the reinstatement of the DACA program, which protects young undocumented immigrants from deportation. The program, initially implemented under President Obama, allows these individuals to obtain work permits and remain in the US. The judge invalidated a memo by Acting Secretary Chad Wolf that had barred new DACA applications. DACA has shielded 800,000 young people, known as Dreamers, from potential deportation. Applicants must have a high school diploma and a clean criminal record.
