Early blooms in DC as National Cherry Blossom Festival begins

The National Park Service announced an early peak bloom for cherry blossoms, attracting more visitors to the National Cherry Blossom Festival. The festival draws over a million visitors annually, with a significant portion from outside the local area. After the festival, over 100 cherry trees will be removed for seawall repairs due to flooding damage. The $113 million project aims to replace the trees and improve the area for future generations.
