Tropical Storm Laura caused significant damage and loss of life in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. In Haiti, several people died, including a young girl, and many homes were flooded. In the Dominican Republic, the storm led to evacuations, power outages, and isolated communities. Emergency services issued red alerts for many provinces. Laura was expected to strengthen into a hurricane as it moved towards the US coast.
