Mitosis

Mitosis is a process that results in two daughter cells with identical genetic material to the parent cell. It consists of several stages: prophase, prometaphase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. During prophase, chromosomes become visible, and in prometaphase, the nuclear envelope breaks down. Metaphase is characterized by chromosome alignment, while anaphase involves the separation of sister chromatids. Telophase sees the formation of nuclear envelopes around daughter chromosomes. Finally, cytokinesis divides the cytoplasm, completing cell division.
