Slovenia, Skocjan Cave

The Skotzian Caves, recognized by UNESCO in 1986, are a significant natural and cultural site in Slovenia. Following Slovenia's independence, the area was protected as a regional park. The caves feature unique geological formations and a complex hydrological system, with the Raker River flowing underground. Historically, the caves have been noted since antiquity and have been explored extensively since the 19th century. Today, they attract around 100,000 visitors annually, with recent renovations enhancing tourist access.
