Where the giant dinosaur-killing asteroid came from

The video explains the Chicxulub impact, believed to have caused the extinction of dinosaurs, as a result of a dark primitive asteroid from the outer reaches of the solar system's main asteroid belt. This region contains many dark asteroids with a unique chemical composition. Geochemical analysis suggests the impacting object was a carbonaceous chondrite, a primitive meteorite type. Simulations show that thermal forces and gravitational influences periodically propel large asteroids from the belt, with significant collisions occurring every 250 million years.
