On a Friday, a day of prayer in the Muslim world, violence erupted in Peshawar, Pakistan, as protesters burned cinemas in response to an anti-Islamic film and caricatures of Muhammad. The Pakistani government declared a holiday to facilitate protests, which resulted in 15 injuries. A TV crew member was injured during the violence and later died from his wounds.
