The Invention of the Christmas Cracker

Tom Smith, starting as a young baker, introduced the Bonbon to London in 1840. To boost sales, he added love notes, which led to the creation of the cracker, inspired by the crackle of a log. The cracker's snap was achieved through a chemical reaction. Initially called Cossacks, they were later named crackers. After Tom's death, his son Walter added festive jokes and paper crowns, enhancing the cracker's appeal.
