Aberdeen, known as the European oil capital, is transitioning to a green economy by introducing hydrogen-powered double-decker buses. The city aims to replace traditional diesel buses with 15 hydrogen buses that emit only water vapor. The project focuses on understanding the reliability and performance of these vehicles compared to diesel. Each bus costs around $650,000, and the fleet will expand to 25 buses next year. A pilot project in 2015 led to the establishment of the UK's first hydrogen production and refueling station. Aberdeen produces 500 kg of clean hydrogen daily, with the project funded by the Scottish government and the EU, aiming to foster a hydrogen industry in the region.
