Ski jumping at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun, Sweden

The World's International Ski Jumping Championships in Palun, Sweden, attracted 60,000 spectators despite freezing temperatures. Competitors from 23 countries, including the U.S. and Canada, participated in this event, which was last held at Lake Placid. Notable competitors included Ted Honda from Canada and Keith Weggemann from the USA, who finished 13th. Japan's Sibano Hiroaki showed skill but did not win. The top prize went to Finland's Matti Pietikäinen, known as the 'Flying Finn,' who achieved jumps of 255 and 251 feet.
