The Islamic State group has lost control of all major cities in Iraq and Syria. Iraqi forces captured al-Qaim, and Syrian troops retook Deir Ezzor. The group now controls only Abu Kamal in Syria and Ragua in Iraq. Once proclaiming a caliphate in 2014, ISIS has lost significant territory due to multiple offensives, including the symbolic defeat in Raqqa.
