In the Ituxi reserve of the Brazilian Amazon, electricity is scarce and expensive due to high fuel costs. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is promoting a project to provide solar panels, offering a cleaner and more sustainable energy solution. This initiative is particularly beneficial for rural communities, where traditional energy networks are impractical. In Cassiana, part of the Purús reserve, solar energy has improved educational opportunities by powering schools that offer satellite classes. Although some challenges remain, such as reliance on latrines and well water, the project has significantly reduced noise pollution from generators.
