VOICED : Padura gana el premio Princesa de Asturias

Leonardo Padura, a Cuban author, is the first from his country to receive the Princess of Asturias Award for Literature. This prestigious award, which includes a monetary prize and a sculpture by Joan Miró, acknowledges his international success, particularly for his detective novels featuring Mario Conde. Padura's work reflects Cuban reality, and this recognition is seen as a tribute not only to him but to Cuban literature as a whole. Starting as a journalist in the 1980s, Padura has explored various genres, with his recent success being 'The Man Who Loved Dogs', a novel about Ramón Mercader, Trotsky's assassin, which has been optioned for film.
