New York City Pride Parade Bans Police

NYC Pride has decided to exclude the city's Police Department and other law enforcement from participating in their annual parade until at least 2025. They believe that law enforcement can be threatening and dangerous, urging them to acknowledge their harm and correct their course. Instead, NYC Pride will increase the presence of community-based security and first responders, with police only involved when absolutely necessary. The Pride parade, celebrating LGBTQ people and history, is scheduled for June 4.
