L.A. County Offers Free COVID-19 Testing To All Residents

Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that Los Angeles will be the first major U.S. city to offer free COVID-19 testing to all county residents, with results available in 24 to 48 hours. There is no limit on the number of tests residents can receive. The city has more than 30 testing sites and can test 18,000 people daily. While frontline workers are prioritized, anyone can schedule a test online. The White House's testing blueprint places responsibility on states to develop their own programs, with the federal government as a last resort supplier. The announcement coincides with LA's largest single-day increase in COVID-19 cases.
