Rep. Carolyn Maloney Will Lead House Oversight Committee

Carolyn Maloney was elected as the first chairwoman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee after defeating Gerry Connolly. Her election was nearly certain following a recommendation from the House Democratic Steering Committee. Maloney has been leading the committee temporarily since Elijah Cummings' passing and has been a member since 1993. She expressed her commitment to follow Cummings' example. The Oversight Committee is one of the three panels leading the impeachment inquiry.
