Rural Deprivation

Rural deprivation refers to the inequalities faced by rural areas compared to urban regions. In developed countries like the UK, rural job opportunities have declined due to mechanisation, food imports, and mine closures. Tourism offers limited seasonal work, and housing issues arise when urban residents buy rural properties. These factors lead to depopulation and reduced services. In developing countries like China, rural areas face pressure from a large population, agricultural challenges, and migration, affecting education and literacy. Both developed and developing countries experience cycles of decline due to these social and economic changes.
