CDC: U.S. Overdose Deaths Hit Record 107,000 Last Year

In 2021, nearly 108,000 Americans died from drug overdoses, a 15% increase from 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic contributed to this rise by disrupting access to treatments and support groups, leading to increased social isolation and relapses. Approximately two-thirds of these deaths involved fentanyl or other synthetic opioids.
