Siege of Lichfield

In 1643, during the first siege of Litchfield, the Royalists were inside the cathedral, and the Parliamentarians used a mortar to force their surrender. In a second siege, the Royalists mined under a tower, causing an explosion, but eventually had to surrender due to lack of supplies. Three years later, during a third siege, the Parliamentarians destroyed the central spire to prevent Royalists from shooting at them.
