VOICED : Científico español secuestrado en el suroeste de Colombia

A Spanish scientist, Jesús Quintana, was abducted in Cauca, Colombia, by a criminal group. The group was drawn to him due to his foreign status and plans to make economic demands. Quintana is the director for the Americas at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture, which aims to transform global food systems. He holds diplomatic status in Colombia. Cauca is experiencing a resurgence of violence, one of the worst since the 2016 peace agreement with FARC.
