Antarctica has recorded unprecedented temperatures exceeding 20°C, as reported by Brazilian scientist Carlos Schaeffer. While these temperatures are not indicative of a climate change trend, they suggest unusual changes in the region. Argentina's Esperanza base also recorded a new high of 18.3°C, surpassing the previous record from 2015. The past decade has seen a consistent rise in temperatures, with 2019 being the second hottest year on record, and January 2020 continuing this trend.
