Hurricane Dorian Is Already Breaking Records

Hurricane Dorian made landfall on Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas with sustained winds of 185 mph, tying the record for the strongest Atlantic hurricane at landfall. It ranks second in wind speed among Atlantic storms, only surpassed by Hurricane Allen in 1980. Hurricanes are measured not only by wind speed but also by pressure and the damage they cause. Dorian was deemed the most destructive hurricane to hit the Bahamas, even before it had completely passed over Grand Bahama Island.
