VOICED : Protestas bajo cero en Ucrania

Despite freezing temperatures, Ukrainians continue to protest in Kiev's Independence Square. The police cleared barricades set by protesters, just before EU diplomat Catherine Aston's visit. Aston aims to bridge the gap between the Ukrainian government and opposition but will not mediate formally. She fears security forces' pressure may worsen the political crisis. President Yanukóvich claims opposition calls for revolution threaten national security but gestures towards reconciliation by requesting the release of detained protesters. He also announced a high-level delegation's visit to Brussels to discuss EU integration.
