Architects reveal the high-rise that sucks CO2 out of air

At the 2021 UN Climate Change Summit, Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill presented a blueprint for Urban Sequoias, skyscrapers designed to absorb more carbon than they emit. These buildings use carbon extraction systems and incorporate plant and algae growth areas to capture carbon. The extracted carbon can be repurposed for urban infrastructure. If widely adopted, these buildings could significantly reduce urban greenhouse gas emissions by up to 1.6 billion tons annually.
